It's been an exciting few weeks as we wait to find out if La Taverna will be crowned for the Scottish Italian Best Pizza of the Year.
We created a new pizza especially for the competition, the "White Lady". Inspired by the dramatic mountains and the great skiing to be had in the Cairngorms, this pizza bianca features the famous northern Alpine cheeses, Fontana and Aleggio along with finely sliced cep mushrooms foraged from the Scottish Highland woods that surround Aviemore.
The finals were in Glasgow in October, and featured a shortlist of 3 from Glasgow, 1 from Ayr and LA TAVERNA representing the Highlands and Islands. We'll find out the judges' verdict on 10th November!
